What inspires you to travel in fall? Island Trader Vacations invites you to take a look at five reasons we enjoy fall travel.
Head to Ontario for a Peep
It is easy to understand why we all head out to see the colors. Although fall colors are the harbinger of a long and often difficult winter in areas across the U.S. and Canada, they also remind us of the beauty that North America has to offer. While parts of the east coast are packed in October, Ontario Canada has plenty of places for a peep without the crowds. The most popular way to do this is to board the Agawa Canyon Tour. Just north of Sault Ste Marie MI, this train tour runs throughout the summer and ends in October. A tour which takes you 114 miles through the Algoma wilderness, you can’t help but be inspired any time of the year.
Explore the Southeast Coast
The shoulder season is a great time to travel and the southeast coast of the U.S. is a fantastic area to begin your journey. While it may be a bit colder than the summer time, you can benefit from fewer people and plenty of fun things to see and do. Many cities and towns along this part of the coast have long histories. Fall brings fun cultural events and historic journeys perfect for you and your entire family. Don’t miss the many national and state parks this time of year.
Enjoy some Fall Festivals
No fall is complete without a fun fall festival with hayrides, corn mazes, haunting and plenty of doughnuts and apple cider. If this sounds great to you, head out to some of the best fall festivals this year including Sun Valley, a “foodie heaven”, Harvest on the Harbor in Maine, the German Village Oktoberfest in Ohio and the Chili Harvest Festival in Santa Fe.
Drink some Wine
Winery’s and vineyards are alive in fall as thousands of men and women head into the fields to pick millions and millions of grapes across the country and the world. If you have not enjoyed a trip to a vineyard in fall, you are missing out. A chance to see the process from start to finish and taste the spoils, these festivals also offers plenty of fun things to do including food pairings and romantic excursions.
Commune with Nature
Last but not least, a great way to enjoy fall is to simply get out and enjoy the last warm days of the season. Millions of birds begin their journey south stopping at key points along the way during this mass migration. During these migrations, visitors have the opportunity to see unquiet species and huge numbers of otherwise hard to find birds. Two great areas for this type of experience are Whitefish Point in the UP of Michigan and the Bosque Del Apache Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico.
No matter where you are or what you enjoy, just make time to get out and enjoy this amazing time of year.
